Frequently Asked Questions About HypnosisAs a clinical hypnotherapist in Sheffield I am here to help you overcome your problems.
I do not do Stage Hypnosis, so I would never ask you to do anything silly like impersonating Michael Jackson or laying an egg. Below is a great little video which explains about how hypnosis works which we think you will find helpful and informative.
Is hypnotherapy safe?
Yes. Hypnosis is a totally safe and natural process when carried out in a safe, clinical environment and working with a reputable therapist. There is no evidence of hypnosis being dangerous, particularly when used by a trained professional in an appropriate manner.
Will I be ‘put under’ hypnosis ?
No. This is yet another myth from the days when people really believed that a hypnotist could control you. Actually, hypnotherapy is more about you being ‘in control’ and you’ll feel great and empowered. You can come out of the state of hypnosis at any time you wish. You can’t ‘get stuck’ in hypnosis.
What are the potential side effects?
You could find yourself becoming free from problems that have been getting you down and feel relaxed and more confident, stop smoking, lose weight, feel more energetic and generally experience great feelings of health and wellbeing. In other words, the side effects tend to be very positive, as hypnotherapy is safe and natural. I have had clients who have successfully overcome depression, have become more confident and report changing their careers doing something they have always wanted to do. And clients who have successfully stopped smoking also report sleeping much better.
Do you have a waiting list?
Sometimes. However, I’ll do my best to arrange a suitable appointment time for you as soon as possible (usually within one to two weeks).
Do you offer evening appointments?
Yes, evening appointments are available but these tend to be the most popular, so are not always available straightaway. I’ll do my best to see you at a convenient time but you may have a longer wait.
